Welcome — what you'll find here

by George Smith, GG Solutions Australia

This is where I'll publish notes from inside the Sydney and NSW engineering recruitment market — the things I'm seeing in the candidate pipeline, the patterns showing up in client briefs, and the wider shifts that change who's hiring and who's moving.

The posts will be short and specific. No general-purpose recruitment commentary, no rebadged LinkedIn thought leadership. The intent is to publish things that an engineer or a hiring manager in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical would find genuinely useful within five minutes of reading.

A few topics on the list to write up first:

  • Which Sydney tier-one consultancies have actually expanded their Civil teams over the last twelve months, and which ones are quietly stalling
  • What "experience with Sydney sandstone" really means on a Geotech CV, and when it matters versus when it doesn't
  • The structural mid-level squeeze: why three-to-five-year engineers are the hardest to land right now
  • When a Sydney-based search should widen to NSW or interstate, and when it shouldn't

If there's something specific you'd like covered, the contact form goes straight to me.
